CLIMATE SOLUTIONS
The Butler Family Fund is pleased to have supported Climate Solutions' efforts to accelerate the transition to a clean-energy economy and deliver practical solutions to global warming. For over a decade, Climate Solutions has led highly successful climate, clean-energy, and green jobs campaigns in the Northwest, focusing both on building a wide base of support and advancing a solutions-oriented frame for strong policy action. Our grant helped to strengthen the movement for climate action throughout the Pacific Northwest and mobilize support for climate progress at the local, state, regional and national levels.

PROJECT HOT SEAT, GREENPEACE
We provided seed funding to launch this effort to build and expand broad constituencies of environmentally informed citizens across the United States, who would be knowledgeable about the threat posed by climate change and who would hold their members of Congress accountable. Congressional leadership is key to making meaningful reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and investing in renewable energy alternatives.

SIERRA CLUB
In 2005 and 2006, the Fund supported a Fuel Economy Campaign to cut carbon dioxide pollution and curb global warming by promoting clean energy solutions through spurring American know-how to cut greenhouse gas pollution from new cars, SUVs and other light trucks. This resulted in the adoption of clean car standards in 15 states and Canadian provinces. Facing state action, automakers dropped much of their opposition to federal rules cutting auto pollution. Ultimately, President Obama issued nationwide regulations requiring car companies to produce vehicles that average 35.5 miles per gallon and cut global warming pollution by 30% by 2016. .In addition, Sierra Club launched the Cool Cities campaign across the country, encouraging U.S. cities to take action to reduce their global warming emissions.
