What we do
We focus on the inequities of homelessness and the criminal justice system. We invest in organizations, partnerships, and networks that change public policy to support the people most affected by extreme poverty.
How we do it
With twenty plus years of experience, we are strategic. We identify opportunities and resources and capitalize on them. We invest in tough, imaginative leaders. We extend our impact through a complex, connected network of colleagues and organizations.
Serving as an intermediary
We support funders to expand their depth and breadth. For example, the Oak Foundation deploys the Butler Family Fund’s sophisticated network by designating us as a grantmaking intermediary. We design strategy to identify and leverage policy opportunities.
Over the last twenty years, we have learned what makes a difference:
We lead by working in partnerships to increase and align resources. Together, we are more than the sum of our parts.
Our strategic investments in strong public and private partnerships lead to smarter policies. We deepen those investments by deploying a well-developed network of colleagues and advocates.
We invest in people and organizations that effect policy change.
We invest in promising leaders with visionary ideas, energy, and commitment.
